Dr. Raymond Daniel Gill, or "Doc" as he was known to many around Coralville, died on Feb. 3, 2021, from complications of COVID-19, at the age of 95. Ray was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Andrew and Catherine (Callahan) Gill. He was the oldest of three children, with younger sisters Eileen and Muriel. As a teenager, he graduated early from high school to enlist in the U.S. Navy to serve as a medic during World War II. While working at a Navy hospital, he met nurse Jeanette Wood.
