Jan was born Nov 13, 1939 to Walter and Annie Robinson (Pawelke) in rural Eau Claire County. She attended Northbranch School and Eleva-Strum High School. In 1961 she married David P. Erickson at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Jan worked for 25 years as a teacher's aide in the Eau Claire public elementary school system.
