Jack Earnest of Portland passed away Dec. 20, 2020 from complications of COVID-19. Jack had a happy and productive life for over 95 years. Jack was born March 18, 1925 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Harvey and Madge (West) Earnest. He was second born into a family which would eventually total four children. He attended school in Iowa, Georgia, Virginia and Texas as the family followed construction jobs. Jack came to Portland in 1943 to join his older brother Floyd Earnest. He enrolled at Lincoln High School and dropped out of school to join the U.S. Navy. He served as a Machinist Mate from 1943 to 1946 when he was honorably discharged. He met his future wife Lois P. "Pat" Dunham in 1943, they corresponded from 1943 until their marriage in November, 1946 and moved to Vanport, Ore...(Click on source of information link below to read more).
