Aptly named for the Greek goddess of wisdom, Athena Vavuras Lord, age 87, died Wednesday, May 20, 2020, from complications of COVID-19 at her apartment in downtown Washington, D.C. Born in Cohoes on July 21, 1932, Athena was the sister of the late Christos A. Vavura, and the only daughter of Greek immigrants and restaurant owners, Athanasius and Aralou Vavuras.
